x64bit Support

All,

I would like to know when you will be adding support for x64 Desktop/Server OSs. Most of my servers are now Windows 2008 R2 (x64 only). One of the few exceptions is my Visix server. I would like to know a timeframe of when I can upgrade that to a new server running Windows 2008 R2. Also, we are starting our roll-out of Windows 7 x64, and it will need supported Desktop Messenger and Screensaver applications too.

Some of our content is getting fairly stale. In one window we have weather (non-graphical) as well as traffic web cams, all pulled in via the "Graphic Link". Does anyone out there have any good suggestions that work well on your TVs? Comic of the day? Quote of the day? Anything of that sort that you'd like to share?

Administrator Password Question

Wondering if anyone could help with the following problem.

The vendor who installed our system had the Administrator password "saved" in Internet Explorer so we didn't have to type it in to login to the web interface on the Content Server. As we are no longer using the services of that particular vendor we wanted to change the password. We logged in today, and used the "System Tools" to change the password. It appeared to take, as there were no errors when we did this. I logged out and tried the new password, but can no longer login as administrator. We can still login as users, but not as the Administrator. Is there another way to change the Administrator password? We can still login to the Windows interface on the Content Server. Is there a way to change the web interface Administrator password through the Windows interface? Appreciate any help anyone can provide.

Playlists not updating

This week I updated our content server from version 7.012 to 7.0.23 due to our channel players running out of hard drive space. I performed the upgrade going by the instructions in the 7.0.23 manual. I did not get any errors during the upgrade however I'm now having an problem scheduling items to the play list. When I click on the schedule icon for an item I get this message in red text at the top of the page: "An AxisTV internal error has been reported. This page may not behave correctly because of the error. To view technical detail about the error, please click the information link at the top of the page."

When I click on the info icon it displays this error message:

System.NullReferenceExecption: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

at Tei.Web.MyBulletinsState.ScheduleBulletin(String id)

at Tei.Web.Migrated_MyBulletins.ScheduleBulletin_Click(Object sender, ImageClickEventArgs ea)

What is causing this problem and how can I fix it.

colors are flashing on monitor

For some reason the colors seem to "flash" on my display. I have tried to adjust the colors via my channel player but it still happens and seems to happen almost randomly. Any idea? Has anyone else had this problem?

Upgrade v7.0.14 to latest in a locked-down environment.

Hi - I've been asked to see if it's possible to install the content server and channel players (all v7.0.14) in an environment which is somewhat governed by our parent company.

We are currently running all on Windows XP sp3. This is our own install on our own hardware and it's not integrated with our company's Active Directory. As a result, the content server cannot proxy out the company firewall to retrieve internet information. (Though amazingly retrieving the weather works.) We are still able to publish internal content however.

I'm considering installing the latest software on new hardware, content server and channel players all on Windows7. The Windows7 install image will be provided by the parent company, though we in I.T. do have admin accounts so we can install software and perform general administration tasks on the client boxes. We do not have access to active directory administration beyond unlocking accounts, resetting passwords, and populating security groups.

Will we be able to install the latest software on these new boxes? If I remember correctly, a lot of the installation tasks involved copying files from the CDs and editing text files. Is it possible to simply copy the files from our existing installation to the new installs? Is it possible to migrate our current content to the new installs?

Players Not Showing Chosen Layout

I am having major issues with trying to get the layout I want on particular players (we have 3 in total-all for different teams). I keep scheduling particular layouts that I want on the players I want and they refresh in the player snapshots BUT it is not the layout I have scheduled. I have been playing around with it for a week now, and can not seem to figure it out. PLEASE HELP!

Is there something in the settings possibly? I have looked through all the manuals and taken the training courses and seem to be doing everything correctly.

Error message trying to get settings file for tuner card

Following the instruction manual Section 11.1.5 , I'm trying to generate a settings file, but I keep getting this error message while in Player Console/Tuner. It doesn't matter which device I highighlight. I get the same message.

An error occured selecting the device.

Players will not accept new content or remove old content

I have made changes to the playlists, modified & deleted content and the changes are never pushed to the players. Republish content does not seem to do anything. All players have been rebooted, infact they accept reboot commands from the axis tv console.

Downgrading a new player

We're adding two new players to our network and currently running 7.0.22. However, due to political hoopjumping, my team is not ready to make the leap up to 7.1.

Does anyone have any experience/advice/knowledge on the difficulty of downgrading a new player?

Video Window Tuner option for Mini Channel Player

Does anyone have any information on how to physically attach a cable feed to the Mini Channel Player? We just purchased one that has this option, but I have found no clear documentation on where I need to attache the cable feed. The only thing that even looks close is the mini F-style connector that the instructions indicate is for a wireless antenna. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

issues with powerpoint on channel player

We have per documentation from Visix installed PowerPoint 2007 on each player, and we have set the configurations on each so as to not save error logging. Our communications department has taken over deployment of content, and decided that the majority of what they will be creating will be in PowerPoint. Our issue is that once these files are deployed, the players are randomly displaying error messages and stopping the PowerPoint. The errors appear to be memory related. We are making due by frequently rebooting the players, but we would like to not have to do this.

Strange Characters Appearing in News Feeds

Installing content server on Windows Server 2008

I am in the process of doing a clean install of Content Server 7.1 on a new server. Windows Server 2008 (x86). The install looks like it is going to complete and then it rolls back. Any thoughts or ideas?

Bulletin Thumbnails Don't Display in "Now Playing" or "Manage my Content" modes

The bulletin thumbnails suddenly stopped displaying on the web interface when under "Now Playing:Playlists" or "Manage:My Content" modes. Instead a red X displays. Once I select the bulletin for editing the image is visible and the displays are running fine, so the problem is limited to thumbnail display. Has anyone else had this happen? What do you think I should do? Do I need to reboot the Channel Player? Thanks!

auto play on boot

Hi We have recently implemented a 3rd party power management solution on our digital signs. However, we can not figure out how to get the players to "play" automatically upon boot. Instead, startup only launches the 'channel player'. Is there a simple solution to tell the players to play on every boot? Thanks, Kevin

Control CableTV thru Channel Players

I am trying to find out if I can control the input from four cable TV boxes through Visix. I want to be able to switch between each of the four channels available to provide different news channels (FOX, CSPAN, etc) during the day.

Or can I add four VFO overlays to the layout?

Flash Files not working on AxisTV

Anyone else having issues with Flash files on their AxisTV systems? We bought the Flash license and we are uploading SWF files that are 12 BPS but they are not always showing up on our TV screens. The screen just goes black for a half second and goes on to the next screen instead of showing the Flash file for the assigned 8-10 seconds. The confusing part of all of this is that we have had some Flash files work. We cannot figure out why some work and some do not. The files are not extremely large so we don't think that's an issue. Any ideas out there? Are there certain steps we need to take to prepare the files? Thanks, James

Typing text into layouts

For the first time, I'm attempting to create layouts. I can't figure out when, where and how to the type text into the layout. I want to add a weather ticker at the bottom, and type some text in the center of the layout. Please advise.
